Thamesmead Health Centre is inviting patients aged between 40 and 74 to attend for free NHS Health Check PLUS. The free health check plus is offered once every five years. Simply make an appointment online or call us to arrange your health check.
The purpose of the health check is to assess risks of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, diabetes and other diseases. By taking early action, patients and healthcare professionals can improve health and prevent the onset of these conditions and there is good evidence for this.
The checks take about 20-30 minutes and consist of straightforward questions and measurements such as age, sex, family history, height, weight and blood pressure. There may also be a simple blood test to measure cholesterol or blood sugar levels.
Following the check, patients will receive free personalised advice about how to stay healthy.
